Serious crises can lead to unprecedented opportunity. That’s what Rory Reid sees for 2010. No one can dispute that Nevada is in crisis. Less than 50% of our children graduate from high school. Unemployment is at record levels. And we continue to be at the mercy of a single-threaded economy and the same old boom-or-bust cycles that have plagued our state for years. Yet the governor who once touted “education first” is opting to cut education first. That’s not leadership, and it’s no way to build a better future.
Rory has a plan for a better Nevada – to build an education system we can be proud of; to diversify and transform the economy by capitalizing on our state's assets; to get Nevadans back to work, and to transform higher education to train our future workforce and spark innovation that will allow us to lead in 21st Century. Rory is the only candidate looking toward the future, and planning a path to get us there.
And after seven years balancing a budget as big as the state's, he has the experience to get the job done.
In 2010 we have a clear choice: to build for a stronger future, or to accept more of the same and see our state continue to decline. Rory has a plan to move Nevada in a new direction - but we need your help to make it reality. This election is about our future, our families, and the Nevada we want to be. Watch the campaign blog for an inside look at Rory’s plans, campaign updates, stories from the trail – and yes, a periodic check on the facts as opponents pursue the inevitable attacks and distortions. But this blog is also your space. We want to hear from you – your stories, your ideas and your thoughts on the future of our state. Please submit your personal story. We’ll publish some of your thoughts right here on the blog.
